Sabrina McCranels is a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University after receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. Through their art practice, McCranels explores the complex and often conflicting emotions manifested in both interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. Their current chosen medium is oil paint on unstretched canvas to allow for various physical manipulation to the substrate itself. Calling upon themes of shame, trust, permanence versus impermanence and manipulation versus transparency, McCranels cultivates an artistic voice that bridges the physical and metaphysical worlds that hold us. Her pieces serve as meditations on the unseen forces that govern these connections. By providing a space for these emotions to unfold, they hope to create an opportunity for viewers to engage in reflection. She encourages intimacy and the potential for reconnection in a world where such connections are increasingly fragile and far between.
