Sabrina McCranels is a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University that received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art located in South Florida. Through their art practice, McCranels explores the often conflicting emotions manifested in our relationships both within ourselves and with others. Their current chosen medium is oil paint on unstretched canvas to allow for various physical manipulation to the substrate itself. Calling upon themes of shame, trust, permanence versus impermanence and manipulation versus transparency, McCranels cultivates an artistic voice that bridges the areas of our lives that hold us. Her pieces serve as meditations on the strings that govern these connections. By providing a space for these emotions to unfold, they hope to create an opportunity for viewers to engage in reflection. She encourages intimacy and the potential for reconnection in a world where such connections are increasingly fragile and far between.
